Before a song becomes a song you know, it's just a person alone with a notebook, trying to turn something they can't quite say out loud into three verses and a chorus. This is a night to sit close to that process. Four singer-songwriters from around the region take turns on the Stage, each playing a short set of entirely original material — no covers, no filler, just the songs they needed to write. Between numbers, they'll tell you the story behind the lyric, the breakup or the road trip or the late-night phone call that started it all. It's an intimate, unplugged kind of evening, the audience close enough to see every finger on the fretboard, quiet enough to hear a voice crack on the high note and mean it. If you love discovering an artist before anyone else does, this is where you start.
